Nordic Barnacles can be acquired by harvesting Nordic barnacle clusters, found underwater.

They are one of only three ingredients in the base game with a Waterbreathing effect, however the Hearthfire plug-in adds two more: Hawk's Egg^HF and Salmon Roe^HF.

33 guaranteed samples can be found in 16 different locations. Locations with the greatest numbers are:

• 4 in the Arch-Mage's Quarters (College of Winterhold)
• 4 in Nightcaller Temple (The Pale)
• 3 in Honeyside (Riften)
• 3 in Proudspire Manor (Solitude)

It is categorized as an uncommon ingredient, meaning that all apothecary merchants have a 15% chance of carrying 1-5 samples. In addition, it may be randomly found in uncommon- and rare-type apothecary's satchels.
