Burden M points for D seconds

Increases the target's encumbrance by M points for D seconds. If Burden pushes the encumbrance level past its maximum value, the target becomes immobile. It will therefore be prevented from moving, and will be an easy target for pounding with ranged weapons, spells, or even melee weapons with a higher reach than the one it has.

[edit] Notes

  • An alternative to the Burden effect is the use of spells, scrolls, or enchantments to lower an adversary's Strength, i.e. with Drain Strength or Damage Strength effects. This will lower their maximum encumbrance, rendering them immobile if it goes beneath their load level. One might even combine the Strength drop with a Burden effect for maximum flexibility.
  • The Burden effect can be resisted with a Resist Magicka effect. Conversly, the effects of Burden can be amplified by a Weakness to Magicka effect.
  • Burden can be found in single-effect potions, which seems entirely pointless as potions can only be used to affect yourself.
