Malene is the Nord innkeeper at the Roxey Inn. She sells food and beds while trying to keep her distance from a secret admirer. She also needs your help to resolve a dispute with her neighbor...
Malene offers her services all day long, except between 2am and 6am, where she is sleeping on the bedroll behind her counter.
The first time you meet her, she will get right down to business: ”I don’t know how to make this request any simpler, but to put it bluntly, Raelynn the Gravefinder must die.” After the quest she will be satisfied in a sad way: ”I realize it’s in poor taste to celebrate anyone’s demise, but Raelynn was evil through-and-through. You’ve done the right thing.”
The beds at the Roxey are of poor quality, and Malene will be the first to admit it: ”There’s a bed, of a sort. It ain’t much, but it gets the job done. 10 gold a night if you’re interested.” And if you give her the 10 gold: ”It’s upstairs, second door on the left. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
If you meet her early in the game and asks her about "rumors" she will hand over a copy of the Black Horse Courier. Ask her again, and she will mention a small settlement known as Aleswell; ”Still no news out of Aleswell since everybody vanished. Strange business." And she is more than happy to give you the details: ”A small settlement to the northwest of here, on the other side of the Silver Road to Bruma. We’ve had travellers through recently that say it’s turned into a ghost town. Everyone vanished without a trace.” After that, the quest Zero Visibility will be added to your current quests.
As her secret admirer turns out to be Pranal, for whom she actually doesn't have any romantic feelings, she will still be glad that you bought her a gift from him: ”A gift, for me? Oh, my. This is from Pranal, isn’t it? He’s such a sweet man. I do enjoy his company, but I’m afraid I just don’t have romantic feelings for him. Well, these are simply beautiful. Thank you so much. And there’s no need to let him know that I know where they came from. You understand.”

- Zero Visibility: Help the citizens of Aleswell become visible again.
[edit] Notes
- Before the Nothing You Can Possess quest is initiated, the Roxey Inn is pretty crowded. That means one of the other guests will steal her bedroll behind the counter, forcing her to sleep upstairs, in the second room on the left.
