Command Creature up to level L for D seconds.

Make the targeted creature fight for you for D seconds. The affected creature will behave much like a summoned creature. They will ignore your presence, engage hostiles, and turn hostile if you hit them 3 times.

For calculating magicka costs of this spell, the level needs to be converted into a magnitude (see Magnitude to Level Conversion). One implication is that the enemy levels affected by any Command Creature spell will be less than the quoted values if your Spell Effectiveness is less than 100%.

[edit] Tips

  • Commanded creatures are good for increasing your sneak skill. Use a Command effect on the creature, perform one or more stealth hits, and command it again.
  • A creature under a Command effect in a large group of hostiles becomes its comrades' object of attack. If any damage is done, they will continue the quarrel after the spell wears off. Therefore, the command spell need not be for a long time, if the objective is to sow discord in the group while you retreat.
  • A weapon enchanted with command creature on strike for a short time leaves the target bewildered as it is repeatedly struck by its renewed friend.
  • It is sometimes possible to command creatures summoned by enemy spellcasters to turn them against their former masters. This is particularly useful if the enemy has either a Reflect Spell or Spell Absorption effect on them. In such a case it is far easier to command a summoned creature that will then kill its master through melee than to try to break through the innate spell absorption (Liches are a good example). However, due to a bug, commanding a hostile summoned creature will not always work. Sometimes casting the spell several times will help. Do not summon your own creatures if you are currently commanding a creature summoned by an enemy, as your own summoned creature will turn on the commanded creature, effectively rendering both of them useless.
