[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] An Amelion in Distress
Visit Burz gro-Khash in Cheydinhal after completing the Drunk and Disorderly quest for Modryn Oreyn. Burz has a contract for you from Biene Amelion in Water's Edge, a settlement north of Leyawiin on the western shore of the Lower Niben.
Find Biene in her house or around the small settlement. She has inherited a debt (1000 gold) from her father who was dragged from the house in relation to the debt. She wants you to retrieve her grandfather's ceremonial sword and cuirass (Brusef Amelion's Sword and Brusef Amelion's Cuirass) from the family tomb so she can sell them to pay off the debt. At this point, you can proceed in one of two ways.
[edit] Option 1: Chivalrous (but costly) Rescue of the Damsel in Distress
If you have the inclination and the cash, you can choose to provide Biene with the funds necessary to pay off her debt. At this point, she will give you permission to keep her grandfather's armor should you run across them later. Biene will also mark the location of her ancestor's tomb on your map for your information.
The two pieces that Biene wants you to retrieve have a base value of 1037 gold (Biene only wants the cuirass and the sword, not the other five pieces of armor that can also be retrieved from the tomb). If you are only interested in the cash, this is probably not the best option to choose (unless your mercantile skill is very high).
[edit] Option 2: Plundering the Tomb
If you don't have the cash, or are looking for adventure, you can proceed to Amelion's Tomb which Biene has been gracious enough to mark on your map. It's located across the Lower Niben, southeast of Water's Edge. Once you've plundered the tomb and retrieved the sword and cuirass, return to Biene. You are again given the opportunity to give her the money to pay the debt and keep the items. Note that she is not interested in any of the other items of Brusef Amelion's Armor (all unenchanted) that you can find in the tomb.
[edit] Back to Cheydinhal
Return to Burz gro-Khash in Cheydinhal to receive a standard level-dependent gold reward and a one point Fame increase. If you have already completed Den of Thieves, Burz will also be willing to promote you to the rank of Protector. You will then have to go to Modryn Oreyn in Chorrol for your next quest, The Master's Son. Otherwise, you will need to go to Azzan in Anvil to complete Den of Thieves next.
[edit] Notes
- Brusef Amelion's Sword has minor Frost Damage effect and a moderate value of 327 gold. Brusef Amelion's Cuirass has a moderate Frost Shield effect and a value of 710 gold. The remaining pieces of Brusef Amelion's Armor are unenchanted, and range in value from 150 to 225 gold each.
- The armor of Brusef Amelion is quite odd in that it has the appearance of ebony, the color of silver, and an armor rating comparable to chainmail. Overall, it's probably better to go with the chainmail as it has a weight of 17, compared to Brusef Amelion's armor which has a weight of nearly 150.
- Upon completion of the quest, NPCs can be heard saying: "Sure, the Fighters Guild raided a family tomb, but they did it for a family member. What's wrong with that?", even if the player decided to pay the debt off themselves.
- If you have found and sold Amelion's armor and sword before beginning this quest you will have to give Biene the money yourself as they will not respawn.
[edit] Journal Entries
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage FGC07Heirloom stage. Wherestageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
