Waiting Follower and intentionally killed twin Dead Thralls at the base of the Castle ramp[edit]
I'm on the xbox 360. My follower, Brelyna Maryon, was also my homestead steward.
When I came out the first time having been banished, one of my two killed dead thralls was gone, but the other one was still there dead next to my live horse, and my follower who I had told to wait by my horse was gone also. I tried to get another potential follower, my housecarl, to follow me, but they said "Looks like you already have someone with you..." One thrall was an electromancer, and the other one a fire mage.
The solution was to reload a prior save grab a vampire healing solution off of the castle's RHS banquette table far end as you face in from the entrance then be banished. Both of my twin killed dead thralls were next to my horse again like they were prior to going into the castle.
My follower had somehow been trapped inside the castle still waiting--I had looked high and low using Alteration detect both dead and life spells. I waited 3 x 24 hours at the base of the castle ramp (where I had asked the follower to wait) before entering the castle, after which the game said that my follower got tired of waiting and has left my service. I had that follower as my steward of my homestead property / house so I went back there to await their arrival.
I found my bard was playing, but they were bugged situated inside the brickwork walls of my main fireplace--I had already looked around the outside of my property's house for my steward, but they were no where to be found. I found only my housecarl marching around with his lit torch. To remedy my bard being inside the brick wall, I just waited one hour, then both my bard was out from the chimney brick work and my steward came walking in the front door of my house--PROBLEMS SOLVED. I then re-asked my steward to follow me again, et voila... back in business. So, I was able to get her to help me assist Isran fighting the encroaching / attacking vampires back at the Fort Dawnguard home base. 198.91.176.251 22:35, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
- Waiting one hour frequently solves confused follower problems. It's usually the first thing you should try when your follower gets lost. --Morrolan (talk) 13:53, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
Vampire Attacks in Cities[edit]
One of the things I really hated about the Dawnguard expansion was the addition of vampire attacks on the cities. After fast travelling to Whiterun and watching a master vampire get a one-hit kill on a citizen in that half second pause before the system accepts inputs from you and you cannot move or do anything, I started making a list of how many hours it takes to fast travel between the major cities so I could time my arrival during daylight hours. It's more than tedious to have to keep up with that, but if I don't do it, the vampires can even kill someone in a different part of the city where I cannot see or hear it happening and don't find out until too late. If you play long enough without taking steps to protect the citizens from vampire attacks, you'll wind up with all the cities and settlements in the game devoid of any citizens or merchants except the few that are essential and the respawning generic NPCs such as guards.
So my question is ... do these vampire attacks on cities and settlements continue to happen if you side with Harkon? It would be nice if the constant harassment by Dawnguard scouts who can detect you even when you're out of range, have buildings blocking their line of sight, and should be successfully stealthed, but none of that keeps the Dawnguard scouts from making a beeline straight for you which feels like the game is straight up cheating -- it would be nice if that constant Dawnguard harassment was offset by the end of the bleeding vampire attacks on cities.

- Got my answer. Yes, you still get the vampire attacks on cities and settlements. Yay. Valeria (talk) 00:30, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
