Bug[edit]

What about the system bug that existed since design inception? Where the character gets expelled twice without any explaination or warning. Once out = forgiven; twice out = expelled forever. The remaains just another-of-many six-year glitches left unaddressed. — Unsigned comment by 75.45.73.87 (talk)

With the greatest possible respect: what are you talking about? –RpehTCE 07:48, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
Are you implying that the player may be expelled from the temple at random? I dont see how or why that could happen and you seem to be saying that it was put into the game deliberatly, can you please give a little more explanation? --Volanaro 07:56, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
Not sure which bug 75.45.73.87 is talking about, but I was expelled once after the showdown with Almalexia in Clockwork City. The whole "let them hit you first" thing is sometimes tricky, let alone if you kill random people, who may be of Temple faction. Other causes are stealing and sleeping in beds that belong to temple members --BenouldTC 12:16, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
Yup, just happened to me and after working so hard to get patriarch. One minute I am fine and the next, poof I am out. The first time expelled was my own oops, the second there is no reason I can see for it. I have to go back so many saves it isn't funny to fix this, dangit!LadyPegasus - There are no wrong choices in life, only different paths we choose to take. 14:57, 12 December 2008 (EST)
I got booted after becoming Patriarch, but I used player->pcclearexpelled [faction] to rejoin. Yeah, a cheat. But I feel justified because I don't seem to have done anything to be kicked out. I won't go so far as to say it was random, I admit I may have missed it.
Might it be an idea to have this console command put into the wiki? PReDiToR 11:31, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Another Bug, helpful with the above bug[edit]

Something I found by using the CS: If you always use the "join the temple" topic rather than "make amends" you'll be able to rejoin indefinitely, because the "join the temple" topic doesn't set the ExpTemple variable. However, it still checks the variable, so if you've used the "make amends" topic to rejoin you can't use this exploit. Narfblat 00:19, 29 May 2009 (EDT)

Has this been fixed by any unofficial patches? I tried it and they asked if I wanted forgiveness to get back in and I said yes, so I can confirm that a person can at least get back in the Temple using "join the temple." 67.215.23.83

Nerevarine as a Temple member[edit]

This probably needs a VN tag. The Archcanon will not let you finish quests, or give you more duties while you are working on the 4th and 5th Trials, but I do not know for sure if that applies to any other quest-givers. Brf 11:29, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

It's not a good idea to add information that "probably needs a VN tag". Let's work it out here before putting it on the article. rpeh •TCE 11:40, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Cool. Tonight I can probably load up one of my older save games with a character who was never a Temple member and have him join-up just before doing the Third Trial. It might be interesting to see their reactions if you are not a Temple member at all either. Brf 11:51, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
I'll see if I can work out what goes on from the CS. I know temple people tell you that they don't trust you at certain points, but I'm not sure where. rpeh •TCE 12:07, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
I have never done anything with the CS, but what I noticed with the Archcanon was that clicking on the current quest topic brought up the Nerevarine topic instead, and clicking on "duties" brought up the "I do not trust you" response. Brf 13:34, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
OK. I tested this with some other Temple members too. The reaction is consistent. Brf 23:24, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for testing that! It's good to be accurate. rpeh •TCE 08:51, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Temple and Cult?[edit]

Can you join the temple after you join the Imperial cult and reach the highest ranking? 67.172.84.166 21:03, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Sure. I do not think there are any conflicts in any of their quests. --Brf 21:07, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Temple remaining quests?[edit]

After I became patriarch of temple, I wanted to make the Uvo Lloreni's quests (Ghostgate temple). When I go to her and ask her about duties, she tells me " What can I do for you, Patriarch?". Is this a bug or after you reach the rank of patriarch, you cannot do the remaining temple quests? 89.39.161.189 07:44, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

I didn't realise you could become patriarch without having done all the quests. Yes, it sounds like a bug. rpeh •TCE 08:41, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
I would think that is intended. In any of the factions I have played, once you reach the highest rank, you can no longer receive any more quests. --Brf 11:18, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
Except the Mages' Guild. I'm the Arch Mage and can do quests for Skink in Sadrith Mora. — Unsigned comment by 78.8.10.197 (talk) at 08:29 on September 14, 2011

Possible?[edit]

I have a question: is it possible to have killed Vivec and Almalexia, then joined the temple? If so, that seems a tad odd. "You killed our gods - but you can still join with us." — Unsigned comment by 2.217.165.172 (talk) at 12:02 on November 24, 2011

Yes, there is no problem. Almost everyone will refuse to believe you if you tell them you killed the Tribunal members. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 17:45, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Bug When Trying To Join The Temple[edit]

I downloaded some mods and, as expected, ran into a bug. Whenever I talk to one of the Temple's recruiters and press "Join the Temple", the same dialogue is just displayed again, giving me once more the choice to either Join or hear the doctrine. So, basically, I can click "Join the Temple" indefinitely, but nothing happens.

So, would typing the Journal entry for joining the Temple work (I'm not sure it exists though, 'cause it's nowhere around this site)? What else should I try? — Unsigned comment by 79.103.15.85 (talk) at 08:39 on 22 October 2012‎

I know this is 2 years old, but if you or anyone else run into this, I had the same problem, and found it was the "Less Generic *Questline*" mods. I had one for all 3 main quests(Vanilla, Bloodmoon, Tribunal) and I turned them off and joined no problem. — Unsigned comment by 76.17.226.2 (talk) at 23:29 on 15 March 2014

Female Patriarch?[edit]

Is a female PC who reaches the highest rank still called a Patriarch rather than a Matriarch? 2.100.18.40 16:36, 23 January 2014 (GMT)

Yes, there are no separate female rank titles for factions, like in Oblivion. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:44, 23 January 2014 (GMT)
