"You may wondering how a Breton rises to the rank of Headmaestro of the Solitude Bards College? Well, I'll tell you, it's not talent.
All the bards here have talent. It takes study. Hard work. I had to be undeniably perfect for the job.
" —Headmaestro Catrelle Georick[1]

Headmaestro Catrelle Georick was a Breton scholar, and the leader of the Bards College.[1][2]

History[edit]

Bards College members after the salskap

Not much is known about Catrelle Georic's early life. However, it is known that she became a member of the Bards College in Solitude at some point and began climbing its ranks. According to her own testimony, while all bards of the College possess talent, achieving the esteemed position of headmaestro necessitates diligent study and unwavering dedication. She emphasized the importance of hard work, asserting that perfection was imperative for assuming such a role.[1] The exact moment of her ascension to the position is not precisely known, but by the year 2E 580, Catrelle Georic had already attained the esteemed position of headmaestro within the college, assuming the role of its leader.[3] Her tenure was marked by conflict regarding the usage and treatment of the historical instruments and its resolution. The precise onset of the conflict remains unclear, but by 2E 580, it was already recognized as a concern for the college.[2][3]

During that year, she engaged in the Convergence of Bards College Maestros held in Solitude, which took place on the first Loredas of Hearthfire. She presided over the meeting, accompanied by esteemed bards and professors. In addition to her, the meeting included Maestros Hrofgen Well-Tuned, Thaezara Halftail, Taenival Llendu, Efnort, Viatrix Umbranox, Leiborn, Honorable Yngmaer Raven-Quill, Historian Royal, Honorable Helgreir Lute-Voice, Bard Royal of Windhelm, representing Jorunn the Skald-King, Adjunct Professor Twains-the-Night, Master Maestro Alumnus Nel Farsong, and Assistant to the Headmaster and Scribe, Hartlin Treg. The gathering was meant to address concerns about the preservation and use of the college's historic instruments. However, tensions quickly arose among the attendees, leading to heated debates and even physical altercations. Proposals were made to either preserve the instruments in an honorarium or allow their continued use for educational purposes. Unable to reach a consensus, the meeting ended abruptly, with the instruments hidden away by Master Maestro Nel Farsong, leaving the attendees unsettled and divided.[3]

For years, a rift within the college threatened to tear it apart. In a desperate attempt to bring about a truce, Nel Farsong hid the antique instrument collection, hoping to quell the discord. However, her actions only served to enrage everyone further. With the collection scattered throughout Western Skyrim, the conflict escalated until Nel's passing. Georick believed that while Nel's actions caused further division within the College, the retrieval of the instruments could potentially unite the bards more strongly than ever before. Leiborn, aided by a traveling adventurer, undertook the task of restoring the collection in 2E 582, which ultimately led to the end of the conflict and a salskap—a bard's gathering to celebrate the recovery of the instruments. With the instruments reunited, a consensus was finally reached. They decided to discuss the instruments and scheduled times to showcase them during special events, marking a new era of cooperation within the college.[3][2]
