A campsite at Bogwater

Bogwater is a swamp located in southern Blackwood, on the eastern coast of Topal Bay in the province of Cyrodiil. It is surrounded by the Niben Forest to the north, Blackwood Bog to the northeast, and Gloomire in Black Marsh to the southeast.[1] A small island is located to the south and contains the entrance to the ancient First Era complex known as Deepscorn Hollow.[2][3]

Circa 3E 433, a renegade Shadowscale royal assassin named Scar-Tail fled Black Marsh as a fugitive and set up camp at Bogwater. The Argonian Royal Court sent an agent to track him down and execute him for this act of treason. Scar-Tail managed to kill the would-be assassin, but was badly injured in the fight. Teinaava, a fellow Shadowscale and member of the Dark Brotherhood, subsequently learned of his former egg-brother's treason and sent the Hero of Kvatch to Bogwater to assassinate him. The Hero arrived at the camp to find Scar-Tail close to death. Scar-Tail offered treasure in exchange for his life, but it is unknown whether he was spared.[4]
