[edit] Quick Walkthrough
- Escort Elysana's "Cousin" to a random town in Daggerfall.
- Beware of Enemies
[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
Shortly after you have gotten any of the letters that reveal the true nature of the Totem of Tiber Septim to you, you will be deliver a warning by an urchin, it says:
(player's name),
If you don't want to be dead as Lysandus, stop your investigations immediately. Do you really want to risk your life for a dead man? You are being watched.
Seven to fourteen days after you received the threatening letter you will discover a letter from Princess Elysana in your inventory. She asks you nicely to once again perform a task for her. It's simple enough, escorting her cousin to a random location in Daggerfall in return for an item relevant to the Totem quest. If you have already performed a quest for her (Elysana's Robe) you know that she isn't to be trusted, and especially since she is now betrothed to Lord Woordborne. As it turns out, this quest is a trap set by the princess for you, and her "cousin" actually turns out to be a prostitute. During the course of this quest, there will be several attempts on your life. On the bodies of the attackers you will find more treats like the one you already got as welll as the written orders for the attackers to kill you. But they will give you no clue who has sent them.
Escort the "cousin" to the destination Elysana mentioned to you, it will be a random town in the region where you received the letter(s) regarding the Totem and the Numidium. You may encounter barbarians and knights on your way to the destination, provided they have not already shown up long before your talk with Elysana. When you killed at least three barbarians and two knights the whore will flee as soon as the night dawns, unless you are in fast-travel mode. Continue to you destination and talk to the contact you should escort the whore to. He/She will say that he/she and the whore where paid to participate in this charade. But you will get the gold Elysana promises you nonetheless. In case the whore fled the contact will also give you the gold that was paid to him/her, in case you bring the whore to the contact you will only get the promised reward.
[edit] Reputation Gain/Loss
As soon as you accept the quest your reputation will drop as shown below and you will also gain no reputation at all in he end.
| Faction/Person | Reputation Gain |
|---|---|
| Wayrest | -25 |
| Elysana | -25 |
| Associated Factions | -13 |
[edit] Enemies
- 10x One Barbarian seventy in-game minutes (10% chance) until you killed at least three of them
- 10x One Knight ninety-one in-game minutes (10% chance) until you killed at least two of them
[edit] Notes
- There is a popular rumor circulating which says you could get the location of Lysandus' Tomb during this quest. None of the enemies you may encounter has a map or note which reveals the tomb. The only possibility to get the location is by doing the quest Stronghold of the Blades. Neither the original questfile nor that that come with the various official patches has ever provided this opportunity, so where this claim comes from remains a mystery.
- According to the questfiles that come with the game and the various patches you should escort the "cousin" to a random common character of the region. But for some unknown reasons it will always be Gortwog whom you will meet in the end.
- The barbarians and knights will show up as soon as the quest is started, even if you haven't yet agreed to do the escort job. This issue can not be easily fixed without breaking the "until at least three or at least two are killed" conditions, therefore this unsteadiness must be accepted.
- The quest will end two days after you have spoken to the contact to whom you should escort the "cousin" to, or after you have completed the final quest of the Main-Story line.
