Archon's Grove is a forested clearing found in the southern mountains of Summerset Isle, in the province of the Summerset Isles. The area is known for its sacred flower of Mara, the Rose-of-Archon, which epitomizes the true essence of beauty itself. It has since been harvested by the College of Sapiarchs for the fifty-eighth Day of Divine Reverence to the Goddess of Love.[1] The beeswax from the forest is praised as some of the finest wax across the continent.[2] The town of Archen Grangrove existed in the area in the Third Era.[3]

History[edit]

Countless years ago, the orphan and poet, Nenamil traveled across the province on a pilgrimage to seek out the goddess, Mara herself. He traveled to every holy site and sought rumors of her presence until it brought him to the forest in southern Summerset. When he came upon the Rose-of-Archon, he realized that Mara was the essence of beauty itself and was found in everything, even in the flower. Since then, he dedicated his life to spreading the word and the rose became a symbol of the goddess' beauty.[1][4]

In 2E 582, the Thornfang Pack of werewolves took refuge in Archon's Grove following Queen Ayrenn's decree that allowed foreign interest into the Isle of Summerset. Since there was little competition on the island, the pack quickly established themselves in the area and kidnapped travelers to bolster their ranks.[5] However, this soon became a problem for the Divine Prosecution, but not enough to shift attention from other pressing matters. It was instead dealt by waves of newcomers that harvested Rose-of-Archons for the 58th Day of Divine Reverence orchestrated by the College of Sapiarchs.[6]

During the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, the town of Archen Grangrove was an active settlement. It was ruled by Baroness Saursha and had a rivalry with Riverfield.[3] Archen Grangrove was neighbored by several settlements, including Dusk to the east and Sunhold to the west.[7]
