[edit] Detailed Walkthrough

You'll find Geon Auline in his mansion in the Godsreach district. He mentions that he is searching for the rare Droth Dagger and asks if you will help find it. The Dagger is currently being held by the recent widow Arnsa Thendas who will be auctioning it off shortly. Geon wants you to try and buy the Dagger from her or use other means to secure it from her. Arnsa can be found in the Thendas manor very close to the Auline manor. Ask her about the particular item and she will offer to sell you the Dagger for a measly 600 gold, but there is a way to get it for free. Talk to her about know my husband with a disposition of 80 or higher, and tell her that you knew her husband in the Imperial Legion. Then speak to her about particular item, and Arnsa will turn over the Dagger for free. Also, if you're good enough at sneaking, you can find the dagger in a locked chest (lock level 80) near Arnsa.

The Dagger is non-magical so there is no use in keeping it. Return it to Geon who will give you 800 gold in exchange.

• After returning the dagger to Geon, a script updates the Journal to non-existent step 80 rather than step 70. This causes Geon to keep asking for the return of the dagger.

50		I have purchased the Droth Dagger from Arnsa Thendas. I should return it to Geon Auline, so he can complete his collection.
60		Geon Auline was upset that I'd sold the Dorth Dagger, and will no longer speak to me.
70		Geon Auline was happy to have the Droth Dagger returned to him, and paid me 800 gold for it.
90		I declined Geon Auline's offer to help acquire the Droth Dagger; he says he'll try to get it some other way.
100		I have killed Geon Auline.
