Skyforge vs. Lunar Forge[edit]

The Skyforge is often linked to the sun, as its metamorphical moon lies hidden beneath in the secret area called the Underforge.

If the Skyforge is linked with the sun, wouldn't the "moon" be the Lunar Forge in Silent_Moons_Camp? You can find weapons that were forged there and have a unique moon-based enchantment (similar to how the Skyforge makes specially-strengthened Steel, the Lunar Forge makes specially-enchanted Steel, although you can't make them yourself in either case). 50.46.137.126 21:05, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

It is kind of a odd description posted on the page. My best guess is the person who put that there either got that knowledge some where in-game or possibly from developer's commentary. Either way I think it makes sense. You have to remember they pointed out that it's a metaphorical, or symbolic reference.
For example the underforge is always dark, the same way that the moon can only be seen at night. In addition, the bowl in the center (when empty of course) is also circular like the moon, and the color of the stone could be likened to it as well. Another thing is the size of the skyforge and size of the bowl in the underforge. Both of them have similar size-ratios to the sun and moon. In the sense that the sun is several times larger than the moon, and that the skyforge is larger than the bowel in the underforge. Finally, werewolves have always had an association with a full moon in lore. The fact that you become a werewolf in the underforge (opposed to anywhere else) should speak volumes of it's symbolism.
Anyway, it's really all these symbolic references to the moon and the underforge that make people liken the skyforge to the sun in the first place. If someone ever figures out where this initial information came from, it might be a good idea to place it on the page somewhere though. --69.205.180.81 08:08, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
I was very close to editing your comment, but the sun is NOT several times bigger than the moon. It's 400 times bigger than the moon. And if you were referring to their appearance in the sky, they are actually essentially the same diameter to the naked eye. King Mango
400 times diameter, yes. Over 60 million moons would fit in the sun. I don't think there's that much of a sun-moon association intentionally put into the game; you're reading into it too much. --Theothersteve7 21:46, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Invisible Skyforge[edit]

I'm a werewolf in the Companions and i went up to the Skyforge and it wasn't there.Well,it was there but it was invisible.I jumped onto it to see below it and below me at the level of the Underforge was a chest that I can't get to.Can anyone tell me how to fix it and what at least 1 person found in that chest if they can? Thanks. The Elder Scrolls Addict 20:52, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Sounds like a minor graphics bug; your video card (console or otherwise) had trouble rendering it for some reason. The chest is most likely the merchant chest for Greymane the blacksmith. --Theothersteve7 21:47, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Ancient Nord Armor first person view graphical bug[edit]

Wearing a full set of Ancient Nord Armor, then sheathe/unsheathe a two-handed weapon in first person view, you will see a graphical bug at the end of the weapon handle. While blocking in first person view with a two-handed battleaxe/hammer, you will see the bug even clearer. Wearing a full set of Ancient Nord Armor except the gauntlets in first person view, you will see a missing graphical area on your right hand. — Unsigned comment by 175.142.180.245 (talk) at 13:08 on 19 May 2012

Nord Hero Arrows?[edit]

Who added those to the list of weapons? They don't exist in-game, or in the data it would seem (or there wouldn't be "N/A"'s in their entry on the table, as you probably wouldn't know the damage and that they exist in the data without knowing the other details too). And their damage rating would be equivalent to Elven Arrows even if they did, not Daedric.--Playerseekingbugs 20:10, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

According to the Cslist it exists.I guess you just can't forge it.Well maybe the Dawnguard plug-in will allow you to make those arrows.--Skyrimplayer 20:13, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Then why is the damage known (and clearly bugged), but nothing else? And there's already a statement on the page about them still being unforgeable. — Unsigned comment by Playerseekingbugs (talkcontribs) at 20:10 on 14 August 2012
That si mentioned in the CSlist where it has the damage as 24.--Skyrimplayer 20:31, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
I just compared the table with a weapons table on another page and realized that you probably wouldn't know anything else with an arrow that still has no forge data, but thank you. That's still awfully strong for an arrow that should be comparable to Elven--Playerseekingbugs 20:35, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome!^_^--Skyrimplayer 20:38, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

With the Unofficial patches, Nord Hero Arrows exist and have a displayed damage of 16. The "24" given is irrelevant to any context and should be amended. — Unsigned comment by 119.74.61.44 (talk) at 15:59 on 30 May 2016‎

I have added the altered damage as a footnote. The 24 is still relevant to base game data--for example, say someone without the patch uses the console to deposit some directly into their inventory. But the 16 damage is also relevant and has been added in an appropriate spot. Vely►t►e 01:47, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Price info not correct[edit]

I was doing the Companions questline and I was allowed to get a free weapon from Eorlund and since i wanted to dual-wield I was going to buy another one and I noticed that the Skyforge steel weapons cost about 50 gold more than the regular steel weapons so they don't seem to have the same base cost as a normal steel weapon. PS3 with an amulet of Zenithar and the first speech perk. --81.225.78.221 16:08, 30 December 2012 (GMT)

Yeah, not sure why it's on the page, the prices of Steel and Skyforge Steel weapins are notable different. I'm removing it. --Alfwyn (talk) 17:13, 30 December 2012 (GMT)
Good, might help people get some clarity in the future --81.225.78.221 19:35, 30 December 2012 (GMT)

Nirn has two moons.[edit]

Three if you count the Necromancer's moon. If one were to insist that the underforge is lunar, we'd need at least one more, be it larger or smaller. Possibly a third, but only for necromancers.— Unsigned comment by 98.150.205.41 (talk) at 21:28 on 7 March 2013

Not really... just because it is powered by the moon, doesn't mean that each moon needs a forge... That's like saying that the earth has multiple solar power plants, therefore it must have multiple suns. The two are completely unconnected. Jeancey (talk) 04:32, 8 March 2013 (GMT)
Then which moon is it powered by? And where did this assertion even come from? It would seem that the forge is powered by the souls of dead heroes who are burned on it, not any one of the moons or the sun. — Unsigned comment by 98.150.205.41 (talk) at 21:44 on 7 March 2013
I guess I misunderstood your question then. Why does there need to be two or three underforges? Rather, why does the number of underforges need to equal the number of moons? Jeancey (talk) 04:48, 8 March 2013 (GMT)
If it exist in accordance to only one moon then it falls way outside how Nirn works. This is how it is stated on the page. For example Silent Moons Camp and its Lunar Forge honors both moons, and Hircine is the control factor for the Companion's lycanthropy not the moons. So stating that it has anything to do with sun or moons does not seem to connect with anything found in any lore or gameplay. Thus why put that in at all?— Unsigned comment by 98.150.205.41 (talk) at 21:53 on 7 March 2013
Where does it say that it is only in accordance with one moon? And, it is in accordance with lore, the companions state that it is associated in some way with the lunar cycle/moons. Why is there reason to dispute this? Jeancey (talk) 05:05, 8 March 2013 (GMT)
The phrase "the moon" is quite simply and directly singular. The Companions say that it's older than man or mer, and in lore the site was chosen because it made the local mer afraid, but the Elves worship the sun, so what do they have to fear from a sun forge? Simply put, there's no reason to have that bit of data in. What's more is that we burn a Nord hero and then get to make Nord Hero items. — Unsigned comment by 98.150.205.41 (talk) at 04:57 on 9 March 2013

() Well, if you want to get technical, Nirn actually has no moon; Masser and Secunda were different planes of existence, and are now just the shadow of their past. Also, you say that werewolves are not linked to the moon(s), but to Hircine. But the Bloodmoon prophecy shows that Hircine is clearly tied to Secunda in some way. And if you really want to clear things, all we have to do is add an "s" to "moon", there's no need for some virtual theological debate here. Elakyn (talk) 12:59, 9 March 2013 (GMT)

Everything calls for a theological debate. If the moons are no more than shadows of the past then what are they doing under the sun in a forge that is made of a flaming eagle statue that is used to burn heroes? — Unsigned comment by Honney Boy (talkcontribs) at 02:35 on 10 March 2013
Do you know the word "metaphor"? The Skyforge is the Sun; it's powerful, glorious and respected. It's a symbol showing that despite the thousands of years that separate them from Ysgramor, the Companions still act (or rather, are supposed to act) as the heroes of old and have as a their duty to carry on his legacy.
The Underforge is the Moon; it represents the secrecy of the Circle, its questionable ties with Hircine, their anger and their bloodlust. It's where they go to hide from the others as they can't discuss such matters openly, much like wolves waiting for the night to cover them before hunting.
Cremating a body is rather popular and in our case is obviously supposed to mimic the Viking tradition. The fact that a Harbringer's soul empowers the Forge is just some magic babble - this is a fantasy world after all, no need to dig too much into this.
There, if you don't get it now I really don't know what to do. Elakyn (talk) 16:05, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

Armorer's Challenge[edit]

Has anyone else had The Armorer's Challenge disappear from the Skyforge inexplicably? I deliberately left it there, but later when I went back, it was gone. I'm assuming it's a one-off bug, but thought I'd mention it in case it's a bug others have experienced that we should add to the page. Robin Hood  (talk) 00:39, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

Never had it happen. Maybe you shouted near there.--Br3admax (talk) 01:06, 10 March 2013 (GMT)
Good idea, I hadn't thought of that, but no, I don't think I even had shouts yet the last time I was up there, and I certainly didn't use my one and only shout if I did. (It's a new game, can you tell?) Robin Hood  (talk) 01:13, 10 March 2013 (GMT)
I just noticed today that the helm that was next to it had also clipped into the forge significantly, so it seems fairly certain that this was some one-off clipping issue and the book fell to its doom at some point. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:56, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

Ancient Nord Helmet and Mannequins[edit]

(PS3 user) Does anyone know of a way to get the Ancient Nord Helmet to display on mannequins? It's either invisible or not equipped on the mannequins in my game. Is this a bug for everyone? MrC (talk) 02:34, 4 April 2013 (GMT)

- Use Yngol, or Ahzidal Helmet. Feomarth Hlaalu — Unsigned comment by 109.81.210.137 (talk) at 06:20 on 22 September 2014‎

Nord Hero Arrows[edit]

Legendary Edition, PC, I can indeed make Nord Hero Arrows at the Skyforge after the Companions questline, using 24 ancient Nord arrows and a steel ingot, so what is with the article's insistence that they can't be made? If anyone who's a better editor than myself would like to explain/elaborate on/fix this, that'd be great. Field Ignored (talk) 01:18, 26 April 2014 (GMT)

Perhaps because it is only with the UDGP patch. It was not added with Dawnguard along with the others. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:26, 26 April 2014 (GMT)

That was a quicker reply than I expected...either way, shouldn't it have the "this is fixed by the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch" tag in that case? I'm sure there's a reason it doesn't, or I missed it, but now I'm curious. Field Ignored (talk) 01:44, 26 April 2014 (GMT)
