Spoiler Alerts[edit]

Should there be spoiler alerts for parts of this page  ? Such as the part about the master of the greybeards ? Chimo. 01:24, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

No. If we put spoiler alerts on the wiki, almost the entire wiki would be covered with them. After all, even a character's name or stats could be a spoiler in some cases, and almost any meaningful discussion about a quest or similar topic would involve spoilers for most of it. fight[edit]

As i know they always fight using ice form, when you start fighting with them you can't get out of it easily Actually how many shout did they know? — Unsigned comment by Vvardfell (talkcontribs) at 11:43 on 17 December 2011

I think the prominent use of the "Ice Form" shout in combat is to give emphasis on their peaceful nature; instead of fighting you, like every other characters, they just make you stop hittng them. I don't know how many shouts they can use, though 82.243.194.53 09:47, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I tested it again, and after using "Ice Form" at least 30 times, they started using "Fire Breath". It seems that they don't need to wait more than a few seconds to shout again, however 82.243.194.53 09:27, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Why can't they talk?[edit]

I thought that only the dragon language was supposed to hold any power. Yet the greybeards aren't allowed to speak any of the other languages? — Unsigned comment by 85.191.86.135 (talk) at 16:44 on 8 March 2012

Their voice is too powerful for anybody not trained in the way of the voice to hear, as Arngeir says "few can withstand the unbrideled voice of the greybeards but you are ready", or something along those lines. RIM 18:39, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
It still doesn't make any sense. Arngeir can speak just fine, and at various points a Word of Power is spoken without being Shouted, for communication reasons. Add to that thatonly the dragon language has words of inherent magic and it all kind of falls apart. I mean, the Greybeards certainly don't have more powerful Voices than dragons, yet dragons talk all the time without Shouting. It's silly. — Unsigned comment by 050.41.146.25 (talk) on 4:26, 17 June 2012
Its not saying their voices are more powerful than dragons, just more uncontrolled. To dragons, it comes naturally to shout ( and speak), but men have to learn to control it, and then use it. Arngeir has learned to control it through his meditation, while the other Greybeards are still learning. Perhaps, on the road to mastering it, one mustn't speak in anything but the Dragons tongue, in order to get mnore attuned with it. Plus, I doubt Arngeir would speak to anyone unless they were Dragonborn, so he probably talks just as little as the Other Greybeards normally. Its just all part of their silent, contemplation of the sky that their meditation includes. Vos 06:00, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Outfit[edit]

Is the Greybeard robe available to the player (most probably only via the console)? I don't think I've seen it in the armor list.. WooShell 13:09, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

It's on the Clothing page, and it cannot be equipped by the player without use of the console. ABCface 21:51, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Shouts against them[edit]

I noticed that a full power Unrelenting Force does not ragdoll them. Can anyone else confirm this? Are they immune to or resistant to any other shouts?PlatinumScale (talk) 00:51, 5 May 2013 (GMT)

Ice Form certainly works against them, and if you use it near the edge of the mountain they sometimes keel over and spin at 5000RPM down the side of Snow-Throat...all the way to Whiterun :P --Jimeee (talk) 01:53, 5 May 2013 (GMT)
