Ondolemar is ready to root out all Talos worship in Markarth.

1. Talk to Ondolemar.
2. Steal Ogmund's Amulet of Talos from his house.
3. Return to Ondolemar.

Detailed Walkthrough

Ondolemar is a Thalmor Justiciar living in Markarth. You can find him pacing in front of the Jarl's throne room in Understone Keep, accompanied by two Thalmor Soldiers. Talk to him and he will tell you his duty in Markarth. "I was sent here to lead the Thalmor's interests in this corner of Skyrim. It's my mission to root out all Talos worship in this city." As a member of the Thalmor, he doesn't recognize Talos as a god and thinks Talos does not deserve to a place in their pantheon. In his opinion, citizens of the Empire have a responsibility to cease their heretical worship. Then he will pay some attention to you. "You're awfully inquisitive, aren't you? I like that. Perhaps you'd care to solve a little problem I'm having?" He has known that Ogmund the skald, an old and respected man, worships Talos in his home. He wants you to break in to his home and find evidence for him.

Go to Ogmund's house, just above the market stalls. You may need to pick a novice-level lock and get into his house. There is a chest in the north part of the house and you can find Ogmund's Amulet of Talos in it. Steal the amulet from the chest as an evidence and leave the house quietly. If you incur any bounties, do not resist arrest and make the guards turn hostile to you. Ondolemar will attack you too and it would be impossible for you to talk to him during the fight. Pay your fine and the amulet won't be removed from your inventory.

Bring the amulet to Ondolemar and he thinks it will be all he need to have Ogmund taken care of. He will thank you on behalf of himself and the Thalmor for your assitance and reward you with some gold.

Notes

• Despite Ondolemar saying he can now take care of Ogmund, Ogmund remains friendly, albeit reluctantly, and available as a Speech skill trainer.
• Completion of Season Unending or The Battle for Fort Sungard might make this quest unavailable, as Ondolemar will be killed by the Stormcloaks who, unlike the Empire, don't accept the Thalmor occupation.

Notes

• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage FreeformMarkarthM stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest FreeformMarkarthM.
