Rhiada

Rhiada is a Breton citizen and a servant of the Silver-Blood family at the Treasury House in Markarth.

She is Eltrys' wife, and is with child. Her connections to the Silver-Blood family provide ample opportunity for Eltrys to investigate the recent killings.

She wears a set of tavern clothes and a pair of boots. She is equipped with an iron dagger, and carries a key to Eltrys' room as well as a selection of common loot and gold.

Dialogue[edit]

Her greetings:

"I'm just a servant. Don't pay me any mind."
"Working in the Treasury House isn't so bad. I earn good money."
"Ildene has been working in the Treasury House since before I was born."
"Sometimes I hear Yngvar singing in his room. He's actually quite good."

If spoken to:

Who's in charge here?
"You want Thonar Silver-Blood. He handles all the family business. If you're here to talk politics, though, you'd want his brother Thongvor. He spends most of his time in Understone Keep."
I want to know about the Silver-Bloods.
"It's an old family. Very well-respected throughout the Reach. The Silver-Bloods run nearly all the lands in this Hold, as well as the local inn. And of course, they own Cidhna Mine, the finest prison and source of silver in Skyrim."
What kind of patrons do you have?
"For one, the landowners of the Reach. It goes without saying that they rely heavily on us for our silver and support. All the miners, farmers, and laborers in the Reach get their daily wages through us. Nepos the Nose handles that part of our business. He has a way with the workers."

Ending conversation will have her say either:

"I have records I need to tend to."
"What? Oh. Bye."

Conversations[edit]

"You're a very pretty young woman, Rhiada."

Sometimes Rhiada will converse with others in the Treasury House:

Thonar: "You're a very pretty young woman, Rhiada."
Rhiada: "Why, thank you Thonar. I'm flattered."
Thonar: "You're married, yes? To that young metal worker?"
Rhiada: "Eltrys, yes, just last season we were wed."
Thonar: "He's a lucky man to have such a beautiful young wife."
Rhiada: "Thank you, Thonar. That's generous of you to say."

Nana Ildene assures Rhiada that she'll be safe in Markarth:

Rhiada: "You have worked here in the Treasury House for a long time, haven't you Ildene?"
Ildene: "Yes, child. Nana Ildene has taken care of the Silver-Bloods for many years...."
Rhiada: "It's just... aren't you worried about the Forsworn? Maybe it's not safe here."
Ildene: "Don't you worry Rhiada. If any Forsworn coming knocking on our door, Nana will let you know...."
Rhiada: "Thanks Nana. I feel better now."

When Thonar's wife, Betrid orders Rhiada to clean, Betrid will accidentally reveal her past:

Betrid: "Rhiada, did you clean the tables today? They're filthy!"
Rhiada: "I'm sorry, Betrid. I'll clean them right away."
Betrid: "No, don't bother. You're useless, as always. I'll get Ildene to do it."
Rhiada: "I'm sorry, Betrid. I thought I had cleaned the tables properly."
Betrid: "Oh, stop apologizing. It makes you look like an idiot. Learn to talk back a bit, girl! Why, when I was in the temple...."
Rhiada: "The temple, Betrid? You were one of Dibella's faithful?"
Betrid: "I misspoke. Never mind what I said. Now get back to work."

Quest-Related Dialogue[edit]

The Forsworn Conspiracy[edit]

As you investigate the Forsworn conspiracy, you will need to convince Rhiada before she will let you speak with Thonar. During this quest, she will be more snobbish than usual, greeting you with either:

"The Treasury House is really just for patrons of the Silver-Blood family. You don't belong here."
"I'm sorry. We're only interested in helping our patrons."
I need to see Thonar.
"I'm afraid he's asked to not be disturbed. He has important business."
Option Dialogue Reaction
He's expecting me. (Persuade) Passed: "Oh, I'm sorry to keep you. Head right in."
Failed: "No. He isn't."
Passed: Continue investigation
Failed: Nothing
Business, you say? (Bribe) Passed: "Riches are a gate-opener around here. Head right in."
Failed: "Private business, I mean. No visitors."
I wasn't asking. (Intimidate) Passed: "Go... go right ahead then. Don't let me keep you."
Failed: "I must have misheard you. Did you say you were leaving?"
I'll try later, then. "I doubt he'll be free, but all right." Nothing

Unused Dialogue[edit]

  • An earlier iteration of Rhiada's patron dialogue can be found in the game's DialogueViews files.
What kind of patrons do you have?
"For one, the Jarl. It goes without saying that he relies heavily on us for our silver and support. Also all the miners, farmers, and laborers in the Reach get their coin through us. Nepos the Nose handles the papers there. He has a way with the workers."

Notes[edit]

  • Eltrys never refers to Rhiada by name, he just vaguely refers to his "wife". Rhiada herself will also never mention him directly, she only acknowledges their marriage in a scene between her and Thonar.
    • This does not change even after her husband's death due to The Forsworn Conspiracy, no new dialogue will be added for her about the event.
  • Rhiada carries a key to Eltrys' room in The Warrens, and she's also part of the respective factions. Seeing as Eltrys' room holds two haystacks to sleep on, it seems likely that Rhiada was once meant to sleep with him. In the final game, she has her own bed in the Treasury House where she sleeps alone.
  • If Kleppr, Frabbi, Hreinn, and Hroki all die, Rhiada will technically be the one to take over the Silver-Blood Inn, though she will remain in the Treasury House.
  • It's possible that Rhiada was meant to play a role in the unfinished quest MS01C, as one of the only remnants of said quest is an empty barrel known as "Rhiada's Wardrobe" with the internal name MS01CRhiadasWardrobe.
