Jorgen chopping wood

Jorgen is a Nord lumberjack who runs the mill in Morthal. He doesn't care about either side in the war, he just wants to get his work done. Not far from the mill is the house he owns with his wife Lami. Jorgen wakes up at 6am and immediately starts working at the lumber mill. He will first chop wood for four hours, after which he will spend the next three transporting the cut pieces. After this, he will resume his cutting for three more hours, after which he might choose to do either until he heads back home to sleep at midnight.

Jorgen is also the bearer of the hilt of the fabled Mehrunes' Razor, which has been in the possession of his family, Clan Axe-Bearer, for eight generations.

He wears a set of farm clothes, a pair of boots, and a hat. He is equipped with an iron sword. He carries a key to his house, a key to his chest, a torch, and a selection of common loot and gold.

He also owns a bed inside the Moorside Inn which you can sleep in if you befriend him.

Dialogue[edit]

His greetings:

"Unless it's about the mill, I don't have time to talk. Too much to do."
"The mill is my responsibility, and that's what I care about. That's all. Understand?"
"I just want to be left alone to do my job, and to enjoy what little free time I have when I have it."
"We've gone from a Jarl lost in her own head to a Jarl that cares for nothing but herself. Lot of good that does us." (If the Stormcloaks control Morthal)
You seemed upset about something.
"The world's going mad, and our Jarl does what? She hides inside with her 'visions'. We need a leader, not some mystic!" (If the Imperials control Morthal)
You don't trust the Jarl?
"How can I? She never speaks with us. She's allowed this wizard, Falion, to live in our midst practicing gods-know-what. And now there's talk of rebellion, and dragons? What help could Idgrod be against them? No, we can only rely on ourselves. You'd do well to remember that."
You seemed upset about something.
"The world's going mad, and our Jarl doesn't care. She's only in it for herself. If she's the best Ulfric has to offer, we might've been better off with the Imperials." (If the Stormcloaks control Morthal)
What isn't the Jarl dealing with?
"Trust you saw the house that burned down. Peculiar bit of business, that was. And that's on top of noises from the marsh in the night, tales of monsters, and now this wizard in our midst. What's a man to do if he can't look to his Jarl for help?"

Conversations[edit]

Morthal's citizens arguing with Aslfur

Jorgen can initially be found outside Highmoon Hall having the following argument:

Jorgen: "What's the Jarl going to do about it?"
Thonnir: "How are we supposed to feel safe in our own homes?"
Aslfur: "Please, enough already! I have told Igrod of your concerns. She'll look after you. Please, go back to your business."
Jorgen: "We've no need for wizards in our midst!"
Thonnir: "Morthal has enough problems as it is!"
Jorgen: "Bah, it's no use. Let's get back to it then."

Quest-Related Events[edit]

Laid to Rest[edit]

Jorgen will be called upon to join the mob of townsfolk heading for Movarth's Lair.

Thonnir:"I'm going to Movarth's Lair to kill that monster. Are you with me?"
Lami:"Yes!"
Jorgen:"Yeah!"
Lurbuk:"Take us!"
Benor:"Yeah!"
Thonnir:"Kill the vampire!"
Benor:"Kill him!"
Jorgen:"Let's kill him!"
Lurbuk:"Destroy him!"
Lami:"Kill him!"
Thonnir:"Take us to Movarth's Lair!" (to you)
The mob outside Movarth's Lair

However, once he arrives at the destination, he'll be quick to re-evaluate his situation.

Lami:"Um...this place looks dangerous."
Jorgen:"Yeah. Kind of scary too."
Benor:"And it's full of vampires?"
Thonnir:"Cowards! We must kill the vampires. We have to make them pay!"
Lurbuk:"Of course. But why not let him/her go in first?"
Thonnir:"Morthal is full of cowards! Let's go kill that monster." (to you)

He and the others will then retreat back to town, leaving you and Thonnir to face the vampire treat alone.

Pieces of the Past[edit]

Jorgen's family was apparently one of the recipients of one of the pieces of Mehrunes' Razor. In his case, it's the hilt.

I'm looking for pieces of Mehrunes' Razor.
"Don't know what you're talking about, stranger."
Really? Silus Vesuius says otherwise.
"I've heard of him. My father had suspicions about his connection to the Mythic Dawn. Guess they were true. I don't need this. My family wasted 8 generations keeping that Razor safe from a dead cult. As far as I care, it can stay locked in my house."

You will then get some options to handle the situation:

Option Dialogue Reaction
You won't miss it, then. (Persuade) Passed: You want the hilt that bad? Fine. Here's the keys. It's locked in a chest inside my house.
Failed: I don't care, but my ancestors do. You can't have it.
Passed: Retrieve the Hilt
Failed: Nothing
I'll pay for the hilt. (Bribe) Passed: Divines know the mill could use some new blades. All right. It's yours. Here's the keys. It's locked in a chest inside my house.
Failed: Why don't you take your coin and keep walking?
Passed: Retrieve the Hilt
Failed: Nothing
Give me the hilt, or things get ugly. (Intimidate) Passed: Easy. Here. These are the keys. The hilt is in a chest in my house, just don't hurt anyone.
Failed: You want a fight? You got it.
Passed: Retrieve the Hilt
Failed: Brawl
Never mind, then. Best leave the past buried, I say. Nothing

If successful, he will give you the key to his house west of the mill and another to the chest within it containing the hilt. You can also just take the hilt from the chest without speaking to Jorgen by picking the locks or pickpocketing the key(s) from Jorgen.

However, should you walk away without convincing Jorgen to give you the hilt, he will say this on subsequent meetings:

"You're after that damn hilt? Go ahead, try and take it!"
