After the Quest[edit]

This information was deleted from the article:

The entrance from the underground passageway can only be used during the quest; after the quest, it is again impossible to reach the upper levels of the palace.

But I'm confused as to how you're supposed to get back into the Imperial Palace after the Ultimate Heist is completed. You can return to the Old Way, but when I've checked, the gate in the Hall of Epochs (the one you originally open using the Arrow of Extrication) has re-closed and therefore it is not possible to get from the Old Way back into the palace. Also, the quest notes state that "You will not be able to get past the Hall of Epochs again after completing the quest." So if there is a way back into the Palace after the quest is completed, it's probably worth spelling out exactly how it's done. --NepheleTalk 02:37, 16 June 2008 (EDT)

Well that's odd, cuz when someone asked about it elsewhere (probably the quest page), I went back and was able to go through all the way without a problem. Maybe it's something from the UOP? I couldn't go through from the palace, I had to go through from the sewers, but had no problems going there and then all the way back out through the palace again. I'll triple-check, and if someone without the UOP (or on XBox/PS3) could check as well, that'd be great. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 18:32, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
Seems you're right. I think I only went part-way and didn't realize that the gate to the Imperial Guard Quarters was locked (assuming you have the athletics to make the necessary jump without the Boots of Springheel Jak, that is). At any rate, I'll revert my changes and double-check where else we discussed this and see if changes are necessary there as well. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 19:04, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
The other discussion only pertained to The Old Way, which is where the confusion arose. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 19:52, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
Of course, wouldn't it be easier if (provided you had the console) you set ownership on all parts of the palace and just use the "Unlock" command on all the doors? — Unsigned comment by 24.233.128.66 (talk) at 21:35 on 24 August 2009
If you're on the PC, you can jump to anywhere you want quite easily by a variety of methods, but in terms of the information that goes onto an article page, we generally discount what can be done with the console, except to fix bugs. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 22:01, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

() So let me get this straight, after the Ultimate Heist, as far as the actual palace goes, what is off limits for good? Can I still go back to the library and moth quarters? I understand the part regarding the Hall of Epochs, but I'm not as certain about the Palace itself.Stouf761 17:34, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

The upper floors of the palace are inaccessible after the quest. --Legoless 18:32, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Be the Emperor[edit]

I was thinking about some cool roleplay ideas when I get the computer version of the game. I have it for xbox but am not completely satisfied. I realize that, on the pc, I could join any faction I wished and could even own places if I wanted. So, am I right in thinking I could own the imperial palace, join the emperor faction, and live there after killing Ocato (through console commands, of course) after I complete the main quest? — Unsigned comment by 24.233.128.66 (talk) at 13:41 on 7 September 2009

It looks like joining the ICPalaceFaction faction would do most of what you're talking about. I don't expect it's something anybody has actually tried before, so why don't you give it a shot and report back on what happens! —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 03:41, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

If your going to be the emperor make sure you have the emperors robes and shoes to make it more realistic, you could also enchant Arnora's true amulet and call it the amulet of kings.. --VergilSparda 18:58, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

I also heard there was a glitch on the console. If you create a full actor copy of yourself before giving the amulet to Jauffre, kill yourself, and take the amulet, it becomes wearable.
It's not a glitch per se, just the way createfullactorcopy works. Another way to do it is to use player.DuplicateAllItems player, though this can create extra copies of things, probably because they didn't expect the the source and destination of the duplication to be the same. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 22:46, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
But I don't quite understand, shouldn't a duplicate Amulet of Kings still have the same scripts as the original? 24.233.128.66 18:54, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
I don't entirely understand the mechanism of it myself, but for whatever reason, when you duplicate an item, some scripts stop working on the new copy. Part of it has to do with the fact that the item gets a new FormID, but I don't think that's all of it. They discuss some of it here, if you're interested. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 02:12, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

After getting my own computer version of the game (Slow, slightly glitchy, but working up to standards), I confirm that merely joining the faction ICPalacefaction, full access is provided. The palace doors are unlocked and you can even adopt battlemage's quarters. Talking to any of the blind moths will give an update for the Ultimate Heist stating that the priests are onto you, but after that they talk with you normally. Basically, just joining this faction can make you Emperor. 24.233.128.66

storage?[edit]

Does anyone know if the chests and crates in the imperial battlemages quarters respawn? I'm looking into owning the palace and don't know whether or not they're suitable for storage.— Unsigned comment by 24.233.128.66 (talk) at 14:44 on 13 September 2009

All of the barrels, and all but one of the chests respawn. The chest that does not respawn is the one on top of the cupboard. The cupboard respawns as well so do not put anything in there. The sacks should be safe, especially the ones with open tops. Griffinsong 15:17, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
awesome! Thanks. At least ONE of the palace containers doesn't respawn. — Unsigned comment by 24.233.128.66 (talk) at 21:20 on 14 September 2009

ICpalaceguardquaters[edit]

This is incorrect, and does not work when using setcellownership 24.63.171.231 20:18, 24 December 2011 (UTC)michael

Is this where Palace Guards come to eat... or don't they?[edit]

As part of my Anarchy-in-Cyrodil campaign, I've been using poisoned apples to effectively perma-kill as many respawning guards and the like as possible, ensuring that every time they respawn, they die shortly thereafter. I've sorted almost all the guards in all the towns, except for a few that never seemed to eat... and I've also dealt with most of the Imperial Watch in the city. The one group that has thus far completely evaded my ability to poison are the Palace Guards... so I progressed all the way through the Thieves Guild in the hopes of poisoning them too... Just two issues though : #1. Do regular Palace Guards enter / exit the guard chambers during the Ultimate Heist quest? ... and #2. Do Palace Guards actually eat, or have a schedule at all during the quest? ~ SotiCoto (talk) 23:13, 10 December 2013 (GMT)
