Umbacano in his manor in Imperial City's Talos Plaza District

Umbacano is a wealthy Altmer Mage living in Umbacano Manor, in the Imperial City's Talos Plaza District. He has an extensive household of servants, including his steward Jollring and four guards. Umbacano spends most of his time upstairs at the manor; in order to gain access to the room, you will need to talk with Jollring first, who will then escort you upstairs.

Umbacano is an avid collector of Ayleid artifacts, as you will discover if you acquire an Ayleid statue for The Collector quest. He greatly admires the Ayleids and is something of an apologist for them, notably holding a pro-Ayleid opinion of the fall of White Gold Tower, calling the human victory a "brutal sack". It is later revealed that Umbacano desires to wield the power of the Ayleids and restore their fallen empire.

[edit] Notes

  • A character named Umbacano also appears in Morrowind in an imperial glass mine, and was also an Altmer mage.
  • "Um bacano" means "A wealthy man" in Portuguese, suiting this character perfectly.

[edit] Umbacano Manor

Umbacano lives in a large house known as Umbacano Manor. His four guards (Matthias Draconis, Surius Afranius, Umog gra-Marad, and Usheeja) protect the house in shifts. In addition, Jollring is usually at the front desk in the hallway, filing papers and tending to visitors.

He stores five bottles of Cheap Wine as well as a dozen bottles each of Surilie Brothers Wine and Tamika's West Weald Wine on the main level of the manor in wine racks, one on the table next to the door back outside and one in the dining room, with a single bottle of cheap wine on the table next to the door to the dining room. A copy of Glories and Laments rests on the table near the front door.

His private quarters are at the head of the stairs in the main entrance room, where he keeps a copy of The Wild Elves and Glories and Laments as well as another bottle of Cheap Wine and Tamika's West Weald Wine.

The trap door in the ceiling of Umbacano's private quarters lead to the attic, which contains a copy of The Last King of the Ayleids, a bottle of Tamika Vintage 415, and not much else.

The door beneath the stairs to the private quarters lead to the basement, which hides nothing of interest, only a variety of clutter.

[edit] Burglary Tips

  • The Umbacano Manor Key opens the manor's front door and the door to the dining room. Both Umbacano and Jollring carry a copy of this key. Umbacano's Key, carried only by Umbacano, unlocks the remaining doors in the house and the Ayleid Statue display case.
  • Umog gra-Marad can be bribed to go have a drink at The Tiber Septim Hotel, leaving Umbacano's Manor unguarded during her shift.
  • You can steal the Ayleid Statues back from Umbacano at any time. You cannot sell them back to Umbacano, but you can sell them to a fence.
