The Serpent's Wake

The Serpent's Wake is a ship docked in Anvil Harbor. [edit] The ship has just returned from a trip to Summerset Isle to collect a family heirloom for Varulae, the ship's owner, and is currently docked south of the The Flowing Bowl and west of Anvil's other ship, The Sea Tub Clarabella. Back in Anvil, the whole crew got slain, and as a result, their spirits are now haunting the ship. Varulae asks you to retrieve her heirloom which is located deep inside the ship, as she is too afraid to do it herself.

The Serpent's Wake is divided into three zones: The Serpent's Wake, Serpents Wake Mid Deck and Serpents Wake Cargo Hold.

The Serpent's Wake

Immediately turning right when entering gives you the view of two crates and one cupboard which contain nothing but clutter and clothing.

Going straight ahead when entering, however, leads to the captain's cabin through a door. In this room you will find the first spectral sailor, a unique type of wraith. To the left you will find the captain's body on his bed. South of his bed is the captain's chest. It is locked but can be opened with the key found on the captain's body. You will find some level-dependent treasure in it. Next to his chest is a barrel which has a chance of holding a repair hammer. In the right part of the cabin is another cupboard holding clutter and a small table with a copy of On Morrowind on it.

If you go further you will end up in the dining area of the ship. Nothing fancy though, just a dining table with cheap food and cutlery.

The hatch in the floor leading to the ship's next zone is to the left when entering this zone.

Serpents Wake Mid Deck

Going left when entering leads to a room where the next spectral sailor is located along with its material form. There are also two beds and lots of crates, barrels and sacks containing clutter and clothing. There is another copy of On Morrowind located on a small table.

Going right when entering leads you along a couple of shelves on your left. These shelves hold some clutter, one chest and one crate containing clutter, sacks containing ingredients and one watermelon and two pumpkins. On your right are two rooms. The first one holds a bed, a chair and drawers containing clutter. There is also a chest that contains a fur cuirass. In the second room is another spectral sailor and a crew member's body. There is also a bed, and a barrel holding clothing and a torch. You can open a door that only leads to a table holding cutlery, a tomato and a slice of bread.

Going straight ahead when turning right from the entrance leads to a hatch in the floor, and thus to the ship's third zone. There are also a couple of barrels containing clothing and sacks holding ingredients.

Serpents Wake Cargo Hold

Turn right when entering and you will face another spectral sailor. Deal with him and then head straight on. You will pass numerous containers holding clutter and clothing. A barrel is a holding a repair hammer and there are two pumpkins as well. In the last room is yet another spectral sailor and there is a bottle of Skooma well-hidden in the middle one of the low shelves. It lies close to a crew member's body and is surrounded by other gems.

Varulae's crystal ball, her family heirloom, is located in a chest just to the left when entering.

Notes

  • There are some inconsistencies in the names of the ship's zones. The first zone is called The Serpent's Wake (possessive form), while both the other zones, Serpents Wake Mid Deck and Serpents Wake Cargo Hold, do not make use of the possessive form.
  • For more information regarding the assassination of the crew, see the Traitor's Diary.
