[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] Lord Rugdumph's Dilemma
Speak to Burz gro-Khash in Cheydinhal and he will tell you about an old family friend, Orc nobleman Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak and his missing daughter, Lady Rogbut gra-Shurgak. You're sent to Lord Rugdumph's Estate, located northwest of Lake Arrius (Burz has conveniently marked its location on your map), to speak with Lord Rugdumph for more details.
Upon arriving at the Rugdumph Estate, proceed inside to locate Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak. He tells you he fears his daughter has been abducted by a band of ogres known to live east of his estate. The dialog is quite amusing, he uses lots of incorrect fancy words to sound noble.
[edit] The Liberation of Lady Rogbut
Investigate the area east of the Rugdumph Estate, and you will come upon three ogres guarding Lady Rogbut, who appears to be unharmed. Proceed to rumble with the ogres; once all three are dead, speak with Lady Rogbut and return with her to her father. Although the ogres cannot be distinguished from standard ogres, they are different and you must kill these three specific ogres in order to complete the quest.
[edit] Return to the Rugdumph Estate
Upon returning Lady Rogbut to her father, he expresses his gratitude about her safe return in a truly unique manner, and proceeds to reward you with Rugdumph's Sword, a unique sword with Absorb Speechcraft and Silence enchantments, as a show of appreciation for your assistance.
Return to Burz gro-Khash to receive the standard level-dependent gold reward and one Fame point. If you chat with Burz, he'll give you a little insight into his romantic intentions with Lady Rogbut.
If you have already completed The Stone of St. Alessia, Burz will restore you to the rank of Guardian and give you your next quest, Mystery at Harlun's Watch. Otherwise, you could possibly choose to go to Azzan in Anvil to do The Stone of St. Alessia quest, but your best option is to stay in Cheydinhal and finish Burz' last quest.
[edit] Notes
- Conversing with Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak is quite an experience due to his frequent malapropisms. His mastery of the art of conversation is truly a wonder to behold! Such a silver-tongued devil!
- The best approach to the ogres is from their south; they are easier to combat on the slopes of the hill leading to their location. Beware: they will gang up on you if you don't take care of them expeditiously.
- Another good approach to take the ogres is to lead them back towards the estate and jump over the rock wall since they are too big they cannot come through and you are safe to cast ranged attacks.
- It is possible that Lady Rogbut can escape from the ogres. Sometimes she hides inside nearby Kingscrest Cavern. Even if she has managed to escape her captors, she will refuse to return home until the ogres are dead. In this case, just kill the ogres as normal then go back and find her.
- There is a small lake near to where the ogres are found. If you stand in the shallows you can shoot arrows at the ogres, or even hit them with a long weapon like a claymore. Ogres won't venture far into water.
- In Rugdumph's manor, there is a Nirnroot in one of the bedrooms.
- The ogres guarding Lady Rogbut are a type unique to this quest (
FGC09Ogreinstead of the standardCreatureOgre) and only wander about half as far as normal but it is still possible for them to wander away from the area and be difficult to find. The best way to avoid this is to head to Lady Rogbut immediately after Rugdumph tells you his problem, as the ogres will not have had a chance to move very far. If you still cannot find three ogres to kill, PC players can use the console commandplayer.placeatme BE98to create as many as required. - If you don't want to, you never have to speak with Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak at all. You can approach the Ogres from the North, kill them, and return to Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak without his daughter and he will speak to you as if you saved his daughter and brought her back.
[edit] Journal Entries
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage FGC09Ogres stage. Wherestageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
