Lazare Milvan, in his house in Skingrad

Lazare Milvan is a Breton Noble who lives in a large house in Skingrad. He is a wealthy and arrogant man who thinks that the player is of low birth.

When you first meet Lazare, he will say:

"You have obviously made a mistake. Sir Lazare Milvan would never speak with someone of your low birth."
"You are obviously of low birth. Unless you dispute my judgement... and you would press your suit at the end of a sword."

Thereafter, all he will say is:

"You are talking again. You will stop."

When you ask around, citizens of Skingrad may tell you the following rumor:

"I heard Lazare Milvan challenged someone else to a duel. The man is ridiculous."
"I've had about enough of Sir Lazare. He thinks he's so much better than everyone else."

[edit] Notes

  • The recording notes for all of his dialogue say that his tone should be "aristocratic contempt; deliberately provocative". If you are wearing the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal or using 100% Chameleon it is possible to engage in limited conversation and play the persuasion minigame.
  • Although he asks whether 'you would press your suit at the end of a sword', actually attacking him is still a crime and carries the associated bounty.
  • Lazare's basement contains a leveled and unusually strong rat. The damage it deals and its health increase drastically with your level. Unlike standard rats, it is not a member of the Creature faction and therefore may possibly not attack you on sight. There is no apparent reason for the rat's presence in the basement. In the construction set, this rat is identified as "TestBasementRat", and therefore may have been added for testing purposes and never removed.
