Corvus Umbranox

Corvus Umbranox is the Count of Anvil and Countess Millona Umbranox's husband who has been missing for ten years. At the end of the Thieves Guild Questline he is revealed to have been the Gray Fox and uses the Elder Scroll to remove the curse and renounce his life of crime. He is also the NPC by the name of A Stranger, who appears in Anvil sitting across from the countess before the Turning a Blind Eye quest begins. After The Ultimate Heist, he can be found in the castle with his wife, the Countess. Corvus does not sleep; at night he just stands next to his wife's bed.

Cyrodiil's nobility seems to have a rather low opinion of Corvus. When speaking of him, they will say:

"Millona Umbranox is better off without that irresponsible husband of hers. The most honorable thing he ever did was to disappear and leave her alone.".

[edit] Notes

  • After completing the Thieves Guild storyline, attacking Corvus will still get you kicked out of the guild.
  • Corvus is the Latin word for a raven or a crow, birds well-known for their intelligence and cunning. Umbra and nox are the Latin words for shadow and night, elements commonly associated with thieves. Thus, his full name would probably be translated most poetically as Raven Nightshade.
  • With the Thieves Den Official Plug-in installed you will find a set of four books comprising the Journal of Captain Torradan ap Dugal. Dugal was a notorious pirate who terrorized the Abecean Sea during the time of the Camoran Usurper. After the war, he was defeated by Commodore Fasil Umbranox, who was presumably rewarded for his feats with the title his descendant Corvus still holds.
  • Corvus Umbranox is voiced by Wes Johnson.
