Arkved's Tower

Arkved's Tower is a large fort southwest of Cheydinhal containing daedra (quest-specific). [edit] It contains eight zones: Arkved's Tower, Arkved's Void, Arkved's Lost Halls, Arkved's Oasis, Arkved's Hall of Changes, Arkved's Retreat, Arkved's Rending Halls, and Arkved's Death Quarters.

[edit] Notes

  • This fort cannot be entered until you have obtained the quest-related key. After the quest, you may re-enter the fort at any time.
  • Be sure to climb all the outside floors (2 of them). Search all the balconies and such for a number of chests with some decent potions and such.
  • Have some fun. In the second room of the area called Arkved's Tower, there is a table reversed on the ceiling. Throw a telekinesis spell or shoot an arrow at one item. All cutlery and bottles will fall to the floor.
  • If you have very high Acrobatics and can jump high enough you can sit in one of the upside down chairs. When you do and try to get out of the chair you will be displaced outside of the map.
  • In the area called Arkved's Lost Halls, there is a room with oversized, but unusable furniture. However, the lootable chest in that room is smaller than a normal chest.
  • You can enter the area called Arkved's Oasis, which looks like an outdoors Oblivion plane. Nothing of interest has been found here. There are two entrances - lower and upper. If you enter through the upper one, you can jump left to the ledge and then get inside the tower. This seems to be a place where players should never get to - when you get down inside the tower, the pillars and stairs do not end on ground and the door found there does nothing. There is no way out without sufficient acrobatics skill, since when getting in there you had to jump down to get to top-level floor inside the tower. If your acrobatics is at a decent level, you can jump onto the stairs. Climb up one level and go through a doorway to find an opening in the fort. While at the base of the fort, you can also swim north through the lava and eventually "fall off" the lava field into an infinite plane. There appears to be no boundaries for this area.
  • At high levels, be cautious of the Clannfears that you meet in this ruin. At levels 17 and higher, the Clannfears are a leveled variety of Clannfear that are only found in this one location. They have much more health and do much more damage than regular Clannfears, and continue to get stronger as your character's level increases.

[edit] Zone 1: Arkved's Tower

Arkved's Tower

The first zone is straightforward and fairly unremarkable; except perhaps for the upside down furniture in the second room. Just walk down the halls until you reach the last room, in which there are two daedra. After you get past them, walk through the door (at C) into the next zone.

Occupants:

  • 1 Daedra
  • 1 Daedra (always best possible level)

Treasure:

Doors and Gates:

  • There are two doors in/out of this zone

[edit] Zone 2: Arkved's Void

This zone is comprised of boulders connected by Oblivion-style bridges suspended in black space. To get to the next zone, just run down the bridges to the door leading to the next zone. There are three chests: one at each door, and a third if you follow the fork in the road.

[edit] Zone 3: Arkved's Lost Halls

Arkved's Lost Halls

The first room in this zone contains Clannfears and trees growing from the floor out the ceiling. After you deal with them, you can either go down the hall to the door to Arkved's Oasis (at E) or up the stairs and down the blood-soaked hallway. The last room is a very oversized bedroom. There are two more doors here. F also leads to Arkved's Oasis and G leads to the zone Arkved's Hall of Changes.

[edit] Zone 4: Arkved's Oasis

Arkved's Oasis

This exterior zone is situated on a small Oblivion island. There is nothing here in terms of loot or anything valuable. It is possible to climb down to the lava shore, but it's tedious finding the route back up to the lower door (you can also get back up by using the console). In the centre of the tower are stairs leading down, the tower's support beams, and a small alcove, all hovering above the ground. There is also an "Old wooden door" down here, but interacting with it has no effect. You can jump into the centre of the tower via a high acrobatics skill, or, if you entered at point E, jump left onto a sort of roof, moving around it, and climbing on it and falling through. By moving from the upper door to the lower door, one can bypass some of the creatures in the blood-soaked hallway in Arkved's Lost Halls.

Doors and Gates:

  • There are two doors (at F and E) in/out of this zone, both leading to the zone Arkved's Lost Halls

[edit] Zone 5: Arkved's Hall of Changes

Arkved's Hall of Changes

This is a confusing area filled with fake doors and dead-end hallways. The first room here has a Dark Welkynd stone that shoots Frost spells at you, regardless of whether you are invisible or not. The second room has a trapdoor that leads to Arkved's Retreat. The third room has another Dark Welkynd stone (this one shoots Shock spells).

[edit] Zone 6: Arkved's Retreat

This zone is mostly empty, except for corpses hanging from ropes that hang from the infinite darkness above and a treasure chest near the ladder. You can pointlessly jump down to a few of the pillars and back to the platform if you have a high enough Acrobatics skill, but note that a misstep will send you to your death in the void.

[edit] Zone 7: Arkved's Rending Halls

Arkved's Rending Halls

There is only a straightforward corridor filled with Daedra and 3 treasure chests in this zone. There is a large number of unanimated zombies littering the steps towards the end of this section. The door at J leads to the last zone of Arkved's Tower. The only noteworthy thing about this zone is the high pitch, dream-sequence type sound that begins playing, and continues on into the Death Chambers.

Doors and Gates:

  • There are two doors in/out of this zone
    • 1 door (at I) leads to the zone Arkved's Hall of Changes
    • 1 door (at J) leads out of dungeon to Arkved's Death Quarters

[edit] Zone 8: Arkved's Death Quarters

This room contains a sleeping Arkved, 1 skill book, several notes, and the Orb of Vaermina. To get back outside using a shortcut, go out the door at Out.
