734 guaranteed samples can be found in 263 different locations (these samples will respawn, since apples are food). The places with the highest numbers of samples are:

• 20 samples are in The Tiber Septim Hotel in the Imperial City Talos Plaza District (19 upstairs in the Lodgings, and 1 on the first floor)
• 13 samples are in Umbacano Manor in the Imperial City Talos Plaza District
• 13 samples are in the Moth Priest's Quarters in the Imperial Palace
• 12 samples are in the Cheydinhal Castle Great Hall
• 12 samples are in Castle Bruma (7 in the Barracks, 4 in the Great Hall, and 1 in the Lords Manor)
• 11 samples are in the Skingrad Town Guard House
• 11 samples are in the Imperial Battlemage's Chambers in the Imperial Palace
• 11 samples are in the Imperial Legion Headquarters in the Prison District (6 in the Imperial Legion Offices, 5 in the Barracks)
• 10 samples are in The Count's Arms in Anvil (6 on the first floor, 4 upstairs in the Private Rooms)
• 10 samples are in the Waterfront Lighthouse in the Imperial City Waterfront District (2 on the first floor, 5 in the Private Quarters, and 3 in the Imperial Watch Barracks)
• 9 samples are in the Wildeye Stables in Bruma
• 8 samples are in the Castle Skingrad South Hall
• 8 samples are in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary Living Quarters in Cheydinhal

It can also be found randomly in the inventories of food vendors and in food containers. Shivering Isles adds an additional 10 samples.
