Gnisis is about as close to a big town as you'll find in Vvardenfell's north-western corner, and offers many of the comforts of home for city-dwellers on their first trip into the wild world. The town is primarily built around a large eggmine, with the various support buildings arrayed on the small plain below them. Oddly enough, there is a tiny Imperial fort as well, the northernmost in all of Vvardenfell.

[edit] Main Square

Situated above the Ouada Samsi, the square is surrounded by the cave dwellings and Redoran-style houses of miners and commoners. Hetman Abelmawia is the village elder, located in his hut. He sells a Gnisis Eggmine Pass and Scrolls of Daerir's Blessing which are used to cure Blight on target, Kwama Queens come to mind. East of the river is the Silt Strider whose routes go as far south as Seyda Neen.

The Imperial Legion has rented the Barracks from House Redoran, Optio Bologra is a drillmaster there. In the cellar, entered through a trapdoor, you find members of the Talos Cult. The Madach Tradehouse offers sundries and General Darius is found here.

[edit] Gnisis Temple

The shrine to Vivec's Ash Mask itself is part of a pilgrimage of the Temple. If you activate the mask, a panel will reveal the real mask, granting a new, cheap spell, Vivec's Touch, allowing you to cure others from Blight and Common Disease. Along the temple wall are a few merchants, a smith and a clothier who have set up shop there.

[edit] Baladas in Arvs-Drelen

The Velothi Tower Arvs-Drelen at the outskirts of Gnisis is the home to a Telvanni noble. Baladas Demnevanni has opted out of the rat-race for power within that house and values his privacy. Several crates hold interesting, leveled loot. There are guest quarters close to the entrance, if you don't mind the rats (one storage room holds two skeletons). The Berandas Propylon Index is on the top shelf next to Baladas Demnevanni.

[edit] The Egg Mine

The city's economy depends largely on the trade from the Gnisis Eggmine, and its Kwama Queen has caught The Blight. Relations between the polyglot Imperial, Orcish and Dunmer staff are strained following the recent murder of a Dunmer miner. Recently, the excavations of the Kwama miners have uncovered an entrance into the lost Dwemer ruin of Bethamez.

[edit] Fort Darius

Little more than a wall built into a steep hillside, most of the actual fort function takes place in the town tavern. The Deathshead Legion garrisoned here is made up completely of Orc Legionnaires. The fort itself is tiny with some bunk beds and trainers. Downstairs, an Imperial Cult and a Tribunal Temple shrine provide healing and solace. A smith and two healers round out the services.

[edit] Notable Figures

Baladas Demnevanni is located at the top of his tower. General Darius is the only one that lets you join the Imperial Legion, find him in the Madach Tradehouse. Hetman Abelmawia is the village steward for Hlaren Ramoran, Redoran councilor and lord of Gnisis.

For a complete list, see People.

[edit] Getting there & around

  • Unfortunately, the Ouada Samsi isn't deep enough to allow boat transport. The only fast-travel is by Silt Strider or by using the Propylon network in near-by Berandas.
  • Difficult roads lead north over gorges to Ald Velothi and Khuul. The coastal road to Gnaar Mok isn't much better. Ald'ruhn is a long way away through the West Gash and the Foyada in the Ashlands.
