Category:Oblivion-Place Descriptions
The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995
This category contains place Description pages for the Oblivion Places.
Place description pages should be subpages of the place page with the name "Description". For example, the place Oblivion:Abandoned_Mine should have a description page called Oblivion:Abandoned_Mine/Description. By creating a page with this name, it will automatically have a link in the upper left corner that links back to the quest page.
Description pages are supposed to provide brief (one-sentence) descriptions of the place. A fairly uniform format has been used for most descriptions that allows all of the key details to be packed into a short sentence; this format includes:
- Size of the place: 1 zone = small, 2-3 zones = medium, 4-5 zones = large
- Type of place (ayleid ruin, cave, fort, mine, etc.)
- General location, relative to the cities (this is not the place for details, that belongs in the /Directions page)
- Occupant (if multiple occupants, generally just provide the single most important type of occupant)
- "(quest-specific)", "(quest-related)", or "(plugin-specific)" as needed
- A map link
Typically, these are assembled as: "A [size] [type] [location] containing [occupants]", e.g., "A medium Ayleid ruin southeast of Bravil containing undead"
The descriptions are automatically accessed by several templates:
- The Oblivion Places Summary template shows the Description at the top of the place page.
- The Place Link template (used to create a link to the place page) shows the Description. Place Link templates are used extensively on the Places page, and are also used on a number of pages that include lists of places.
Please do not add links to the pages in this category. The reason for this is that 99% of the time the links are unnecessary as the pages transcluding these will already have the same links.
