In your opinion, what is the best, most effective weapon enchantment?

Difficult to say, because it could depend on your level/stats as well as what types of enemies you'll be fighting and what kinds of "extra damage" you prefer.

If your level and stats are still fairly low, something like Absorb Health, Absorb Magicka, or Absorb Stamina might be useful. But once you've attained godlike stats, those will probably be pretty useless.

If you're going to be fighting specific types of enemies, something like Banish, Turn Undead, Briarheart Geis, or Huntsman's Prowess might be helpful.

If you're role-playing a character who prefers a specific type of magical damage, such as a pyromancer or cryomancer, you might enjoy an enchantment that adds that type of damage.

For myself, I think I would generally prefer something like Paralyze, Fiery Soul Trap, or Smithing Expertise-- the latter two because they combine two effects.

imo, the 'best, most effective weapon enchantment' is none... ie leave your weapon unenchanted.

That way all of those Soul Gems you would be using to recharge your enchantments can instead be used to train your Enchanting Skill.

And with that Enchanting Skill you can:
a. enchant your outfit with a constant passive weapon damage boost
b. make a Smithing set to improve your weapon
c. make an Alchemy set for potions that increase weapon damage
d. do loads of other cool stuff

When Enchanting Skill is 100 I just put Fire and Shock on everything because they look cool.
