The UESP wiki has a googlemap based Skyrim map. The bottom map seems to be extracted straight from the game, but how? I found a nice little map program, originally made for Morrowind called Ptolemy and was considering of making a Skyrim map for it. Being standalone map in this age of internet, it still has the bonus of everyone being able to do their own markings in it. However, I would need a map image to use as a bottom for it. I'm using one now which is extracted from the games worldmap textures but it's very unclear and messy in many places, especially holds which don't really have anything in place ofthem since the game worldmap places some meshes there. I was wondering if there was a method to extract pretty map information like UESP map myself, or even maybe get access to the map pictures they already have :o. After all my need is a whole skyrim map not much bigger than 4000 pixels in either direction.
